Where Everybody Knows Your Name…

Eight smiling people pose at Erv's Mug in Oak Creek WI, gathered around an elderly couple.

A few years ago, we received a review mentioning how we treat our regulars with extra special care. It made me wonder: what does it really take to become a regular at Erv's Mug?

Just last week, a gentleman came in and sat at the bar. He was traveling on business and visits the area often for work. After introducing himself to our bartender, Jason, and asking for a food recommendation, they struck up a friendly conversation. He had such a great time that the next day, he returned—and was pleasantly surprised that Jason still remembered his name! He told us we made him feel like an actual regular on just his second visit. And that’s how easy it can be!

As someone in the hospitality world, I can honestly say that we genuinely want to serve everyone who walks through our doors. Our goal is for you to feel like a regular and truly special. We love remembering your name and your favorite spot in the dining room. Over our 46 years in business, we’ve been fortunate to have many wonderful regulars. Some came in so often and ordered the same dish that we even named a menu item after them—looking at you, Joyce B's Shrimp! Others have their favorite table saved just for them when they visit every day, and Jim always has his preferred seat reserved at the bar on Saturday night. They suggest specials they have a craving for, and we make their favorite soup if they ask.  We've celebrated birthdays and big family moments like graduations and weddings, and we've mourned alongside our regulars during funerals. We know their parents, their children, and sometimes their grandchildren.  We've even had the privilege of employing some of them.  Our work is inspired by these special relationships—they become friends, and we want them to feel like family. So, what does it take to become a regular? Just introduce yourself when you visit, and we'll do our best to remember your name for next time... because we hope there will be a next time. That’s what we do. Remember—your next visit is just around the corner.
